“Abakash Besha” Is The First Form Of The Murtis Worshipped In The Jagannath Temple

Abakash Besha is the first form in which a devotee can have darshan of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra at the Puri Jagannath Temple. Below is the picture of this early morning form of the murtis worshipped in the temple.

On each day early in the morning the deities are adorned with this minimalist vesha for the divine ablutions. The deities are only covered in two pieces of cloth known as ‘Tadap’ and ‘Uttariya’.

Changing Of Colour Of Dresses:

The changing colour of dress is reminding to the deities of the reality nature of Lord Jagannath as HE is the master of all PLANETS, so from Sunday to Saturday HE changes seven colours of dresses, it represents HE is the master of all planets.

Day Dresses
SUNDAY Red colour dress
MONDAY White with black spotted dress
TUESDAY Mixture of five colours dress
WEDNESDAY Green colour dress
THURSDAY Yellow colour dress
FRIDAY White colour dress
SATURDAY Black colour dress
